The Thief?
The Thief? honours Natasha’s Great Great Grandfather and early settler John Mooney, known as ‘Walter’ who went to his grave in the late 1800’s, wrongly accused of stealing a neighbours cow.
Established in the late 1990’s and planted exclusively with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon the single vineyard was purchased by winemaker veteran Natasha Mooney in 2016 and is her first foray into vineyard ownership.
With both a personal and professional interests in biodynamics, Natasha is beginning to transition the vineyard to biodynamic and organic, with the ‘Bullock Block’ being the first to completely
transition to biodynamic and organic. Believing the vineyard is a living organism and honoured to be custodian of a unique patch of dirt, Natasha remains steadfast that crafting exceptional wines, begins with a sustainably healthy vineyard.
The 10 ha vineyard is sectioned into four distinct blocks, designated by their varying terroir and planted with varieties
best suited to their site.
The Thief? Shiraz best enjoyed with beef dishes.
